Summer Football Games

Postby keithturner on Mon Jul 28, 2008 9:58 pm

The football games to remember Graeme's 30th birthday were played on Saturday 26th July in the blazing heat. (Well it must have been almost 25 °C or 77 °F for those older readers). Because of the heat the games were played at a quieter pace than those of last October but were enjoyable all the same. This time I offered my services as goalkeeper just to make sure that a few goals were scored. I did manage to save one or two as the pain in my fingers reminds me. Martin Youngman turned up expecting to play for several hours and seemed disappointed that we were all drained after about an hour. After the games we went to the pub for a drink and some food.

Here are some photos taken by Anne of the activity and inactivity. William Stout, aged 15 months, tried to get in on the act at times and seemed to have prevented his dad James from participating fully as he usually does. However, in view of the heat James may have been grateful of the opportunity to rest. Note the photo of Mike's brother Jamie trying to prevent Rachel from getting up after the tackle. Jackie seems captivated or is it bored by it all? She was wisely sitting in the shade.
