The First Anniversary

Postby keithturner on Fri Oct 26, 2007 4:27 pm

As you will all realise, this weekend marks the end of the first year of our lives without Graeme. It is incredible to think that we have not seen or heard him for a year. This time last year we knew he did not have long to live and we were wondering how we would continue our lives without him. There have been times that we did not think it possible that we could survive but here we are a year on. As we all know life goes on and we would like to thank all those who have helped us get through this awful time. Each person has managed to get through the past year in their own way and hopefully everyone has found someone or some way to help them do this.

Saturday the 27th October marks the day that Graeme died and we will be spending the day at home and anyone who wants to visit us is welcome to do so. Come along and let us remember Graeme for what he was and not what the cancer made him become as Rachel so eloquently puts it in her story. On Saturday morning some of the Team Graeme members will be playing football to relive some of the epic matches of the past in which Graeme was involved. Without Graeme the same fire and enthusiasm may be missing but his spirit will certainly live on.

The photo shows Graeme at the wedding of Jen and Chris just weeks before he was diagnosed as having the tumour. This is how most people will want to remember him and not what happened to him after taking steroids for 21 months.
